PartSmart IPL

1After installing IPL on new computer, a prompt is asking for a CD for images.

Run Copytohd.exe, if it has not already been run. Update-D is just a shortcut to run D:\CopytoHD.exe where D is the CD/DVD-ROM drive. Some customers don’t like to have the Update-IPL- on their desktop, so they just run CopytoHD from the CD/DVDs.

If the first solution does not correct the problem, launch the IPL application. On the main screen Click oh the Edit menu and select Setup. Reset images path to look at hard drive.

2When trying to run setup, getting an error message saying "File not found".
The most common reason for this is trying to run setup off of Disk 1. Setup info is located on latest program update disk (which will contain the highest number - not the lowest). This way as new CDs are added the data that is already in place can remain there - keeping the install to a minimum.
3Drives on computers don't recognize the disk when it's inserted.

This is often caused by inserting a catalog that comes on DVD in to a drive that cannot read DVDs (only CDs).

Electrolux, Maytag, Redmax, Viking and Whirlpool are on DVD as of July 2008.

The least expensive solution is to purchase an external DVD drive. These can be purchsed for as little as $30.

4What happened to Illustrated Parts Lookup (IPL)? What is PartSmart IPL?

On July 1, 2008, ARI acquired certain assets of Info Access, a division of Eye Communications, including Illustrated Parts Lookup (IPL).   The IPL name has been changed to PartSmart IPL(tm) to reflect its incorporation into ARI's suite of products and services.

By combining forces with Info Access, we can now offer manufacturers, distributors and dealers additional products and services, including websites, direct mail and professional services.

The support phone number remains the same:  1-800-347-7366.

For more information on other ARI products and services, click on the Products Tab or call 1-800-755-6040.

5When trying to run copytohd.exe a "runtime error 9 'subscript out of range'" occurs.
This occurs most often when setup was not run before trying to run copytohd. Run setup.exe from the program update disk. Retry running copytohd.exe.
6After copying multiple manufacturers' disks to the hard drive, some are not showing when IPL is opened.
This normally occurs when setup.exe was not run for a particular manufacturer catalog. Go to the hard drive, open the IPL-Mfgs folder and run setup.exe from any manufacturer's folder that was not appearing in the IPL program.
